Do you know what today is? It’s Sunday. Sun-Day Sun derives from the Old English word Sunne (soon-uh), meaning “solar light.” Day derives from the Indo-European word Dhegh (theg), meaning “to burn.” Do you know what today is? The perfect day to let your light burn. Today is not the day to hide your light or pretend it doesn’t exist. Today is the day to admire your light. But be careful—when you admire your light for too long, you begin to diminish its purpose. You start to stand in its way. You’re not meant to only absorb the light. Your duty is to interact with it. Your light is not lightweight and dainty. It’s heavy and plump. Your light needs to be held— but don’t rock it to sleep. After you pull it from the sky, don’t just hog it for yourself. Nurture the light—don’t capture it. Protect the light—don’t shrink it. Share the light, or else it will suffocate. It’ll grow cold and crack. Introduce your light to all of life’s possibilities. When that happens, your light expands. And through that expansion, you fulfill your purpose.
